All meters measure the EC (Electrical Conductivity) of solutions. These meters then convert EC to PPM depending on what calculation is chosen. PPM can be read on a sodium chloride (NaCl) 500 scale or a potassium chloride (KCl) 700 scale. Using PPM instead of EC could cause inconsistencies when translating your proper solution strength. The following chart demonstrates the proper conversion between EC and PPM at different solution strengths.
For example, 1.0 EC = 500 PPM (NaCl) = 700 PPM (KCl)
